Serving Those Who Served

The Foreign Medical Program (FMP) was established by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in 1973 to provide medical benefits and health care services to U.S. veterans residing or traveling abroad who have service-connected disabilities. This program was created in response to the growing number of veterans living outside the United States and the need to ensure they receive timely and appropriate treatment for conditions related to their military service.

At the Veteran-owned U.S. Veteran Health - Wellness Center, we are dedicated to providing comprehensive, compassionate care tailored specifically to the unique needs of our veterans. Our mission is to honor the service of our nation’s heroes by promoting their physical, mental, and emotional well-being through advanced medical treatments, wellness programs, and personalized support.

Our services

Primary Care for Foreign Medical Program Participants

At the U.S. Veterans Health - Wellness Center, we understand the unique healthcare needs of Foreign Medical Program (FMP) participants. Our primary care services are designed to provide comprehensive, culturally sensitive care that supports your health and well-being.

We also recognize the critical connection between mental health, specialty medical care and quality sleep in overall well-being. Our comprehensive services within the foreign medical program are designed to address these interrelated aspects through evidence-based care tailored to diverse patient needs.

Comprehensive Care Coordination
Our primary care team ensures seamless coordination of all aspects of your healthcare, including preventive services, chronic disease management, and timely referrals to specialized care when needed. We focus on building long-term relationships with each patient, recognizing the importance of trust and continuity in effective medical care.

Specialized Services Tailored to FMP Patients
Understanding that FMP participants may face distinct challenges related to their medical histories and treatments received overseas, we offer specialized assessments and management plans that honor your prior medical experiences while addressing current health concerns.

Preventive Health and Wellness Promotion
Prevention is a cornerstone of our primary care approach. Routine screenings, immunizations, and lifestyle counseling are integral parts of our service, aimed at maintaining optimal health and preventing disease progression.

Accessible and Responsive Care
We prioritize quick access to primary care appointments and are available to address urgent concerns. Our integrated care model supports coordination with mental health, rehabilitation, and specialty services to provide holistic treatment.

Mental Health Services

Our multidisciplinary team includes psychiatrists, psychologists, and licensed counselors who provide thorough assessments, individualized treatment plans, and ongoing support. Services encompass psychotherapy, medication management, and specialized interventions for conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety, and adjustment disorders common among veteran populations.

Sleep Medicine

Sleep disturbances often exacerbate mental health challenges, making specialized sleep medicine services essential. Our sleep specialists conduct comprehensive evaluations using advanced diagnostic tools, including polysomnography and actigraphy, to identify disorders such as insomnia, sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, and circadian rhythm disruptions. Treatment options range from cognitive-behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) and medication adjustments to tailored interventions like continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy for sleep apnea.

Specialty Care

Recognizing that complex health needs often extend beyond mental health and sleep, we also offer specialty care services to address comorbid conditions frequently affecting veterans. Our specialty care providers include cardiologists, pulmonologists, neurologists, and pain management experts who collaborate closely with mental health and sleep teams. This integrated approach facilitates early detection and comprehensive treatment of chronic illnesses such as hypertension, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), traumatic brain injury (TBI), and musculoskeletal disorders. By incorporating specialty care into our foreign medical program, we ensure that each patient receives a seamless continuum of care, optimizing both physical and mental health outcomes.

Our commitment is to enhance the quality of life and functional outcomes for all patients through compassionate, expert-driven services.

Free assistance with filing VA claims

Our VA Benefits Advocacy Team will identify under-rated or missing conditions, assist with developing Fully Developed Claims (FDCs), draft medical nexus letters, personal statements, and DBQ forms. They will refer you for any needed Independent Medical Opinions (IMOs), and submit secondary conditions (e.g., migraines secondary to PTSD, sleep apnea secondary to anxiety).

Our team will help to gather supporting documentation, track the progress of your claim through VA.gov or with your accredited representative, prepare for Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and finally submit your claim.

We’re More Than a Clinic. We’re a Mission.

At the U.S. Veterans Health & Wellness Center, our goal is to heal, advocate, and empower — helping every veteran live with dignity, full medical care, and the benefits they’ve earned.
